Welcome message by AFRAA President

Capt MuzendaI hereby warmly welcome all distinguished guests and aviators to Victoria Falls, Africa’s tourism capital, which is the host city for the 48th AFRAA AGA. The friendly people of our great nation Zimbabwe are dancing to drum beat, ululating and singing joyously to welcome you in November 2016 on your arrival at Victoria Falls, home to the mighty Victoria Falls, the Big Five animals, the crocs of the Zambezi River and the great Dzimbahwe.

On behalf of Air Zimbabwe, the country’s National Flag Carrier, I invite you to explore one of the 7 wonders of the world, the mighty Victoria Falls, also known as “the Mosi-oa-Tunya” - the smoke that thunders. Courtesy of Air Zimbabwe, the proud host of the 48th AGA, you will also have an opportunity to explore a number of tourist attractions with rich history and heritage in Zimbabwe before you embark on the two days of conferencing.

The mighty Victoria Falls is a unifying factor which is shared by Zambia and Zimbabwe. This beautiful natural magical feature is signifies the symbiotic nature of aviation as it unites, connects and encourages survival through a sharing spirit.

The upcoming AGA would not have found a better venue at a time like this, when African aviation is growing at above average rates but is yet to meet its full potential. The thunder of the Victoria Falls will indeed echo beyond Africa as Africa leaders converge in Zimbabwe at the mighty Victoria Falls to rekindle the spirit of African Aviation Renaissance.

African aviation today faces a myriad of challenges that need sustainable strategies to ensure viability of African airlines. As the host of this year’s AGA we want to welcome all AFRAA delegates, partners and sponsors to our beautiful Zimbabwe where all aviation think tanks will congregate this November to reminisce and brainstorm on winning solutions for Africa and global aviation. Zimbabwe has committed to the full implementation of the Yamoussoukro Decision of 1999 and champions the call for a single African sky by 2017 amongst other Afro centric economic solutions.

Our proud nation is also blessed with an assortment of investment opportunities. Particularly, it is rich in mineral wealth and its agro economy is growing significantly. Our flexible visa regime allows visitors from all over the world to share our world of wonders with the peace loving citizens.

Air Zimbabwe assures all delegates of a great Zimbabwean hospitality and experience and we are all thrilled to join you in November for interactions and deliberations to further achieve the vital balance between our common market needs and aviation development in the continent.

Let me take this opportune time to wish you a warm welcome and a pleasant stay in Zimbabwe.
